The Science           of Doodling

Doodling is a very constructive pastime.  Working for a global enterprise, I spend a LOT of time on conference calIs.  My ability to listen and retain information is clearly enhanced when I am doodling.

Don't take my word for it!  The articles to the right attest to the merits of doodling, and as you will see, I am in good company.

One key research publication is from a January 2010 article in Applied Cognitive Psychology by Jackie Andrade, entitled "What does doodling do?".  Excerpt: The doodling group performed better on the monitoring task and recalled 29% more information on a surprise memory test. Unlike many dual task situations, doodling while working can be beneficial.
